The morning session is designed to give delegates the tools needed to develop a workable strategy, plan the project, control its implementation and evaluate the results in line with the original aims and objectives.

Planning tools – creating a vision; formulating strategy; the decision making process; writing the project proposal; mind mapping; sequencing events; critical pathways; establishing project inter-relationships; planning for contingencies; essential project communications; establishing individual and group controls, authority, and responsibilities

Afternoon 2.15pm-5.30pm

Planning the project

The rest of the afternoon gives delegates the opportunity to try out the Project Planning tools on a prepared scenario. They will be under time pressure to complete their tasks and will have to cope with naturally occurring changes along the way. The groups are expected to work closely together and will carry out mini evaluation meetings to ensure they are on the correct path. Although unexpected situations will happen, the final evaluation will depend on; the strength of the original strategy, the completeness of the planning process, the communication within the group members and the joint management of controls.
