Social Housing

The Housing series of modules have been developed in conjunction with a number of Housing Associations as part of the Virtual College Housing e-Academy.

The Basics of Tenancy Management

Providing a professional tenancy management service is an essential requirement for all Registered Providers of social housing. To manage social housing tenancies effectively, you are required to have a basic knowledge of the law and regulations. Registered Social Housing Providers will develop policies and procedures to ensure they achieve the aims of the regulatory standards and comply with the legislation surrounding social housing tenancies at all times.

An Introduction to Governance for Social Housing Providers

This course is primarily aimed at Social Housing Providers who are regulated for governance by the Social Housing Regulator. Those who are not such as local authorities or Arm’s Length Management Organisations (ALMOs) and Tenant Managed Organisations (TMOs) who do not own their stock, may also find it useful in terms of general good practice.

The Regulatory Framework For Social Housing In England

This module will help learners to understand the changes to regulation brought about by the new Regulator and what will happen when social housing providers fail to comply with the required standard.

The Principle Provisions of the Welfare Reform Act 2012

This short e-learning course will help learners to understand the changes brought about through the Act and how these changes will affect their customers and their organisation.

It’s never too late to change – by establishing good habits now you will continue to reap the benefits. It can help tennants to understand what responsibilities they hold and how to implement and upkeep these responsibilites within the home.

Healthy Living

This online learning module has been developed in conjunction with social housing organisations to help an individual adopt a healthier lifestyle. Health is generally defined as being a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease.  Whilst we may not always experience complete wellbeing throughout all our lives, we can look at how we live on a day-to-day basis to see whether changes can be made to make our lives healthier.  By establishing good habits now you will be able to reap the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
